Plumbing Recap

Ok, so lets go over this again.

This is BAD...

This is GOOD...

Now that we've cleared up any confusion lets move on.

All the inside plumbing  is done.

Hand Sink

3 Compartment Sink

All that's left is the outside "mop sink" plumbing, which, if my husband has anything to do with it will be finished by lunch time!

Speaking of the Angel....

It's 8:45am  ... he's ahead of schedule.

Elloree is Blooming

The Crepe Myrtles are in full bloom.

Oh, Crap!

If anyone's wondering if you can duct tape plumbing pipes together I have an answer for you. Yes, you can. You shouldn't, but you can. It's been done before.

Needless to say we hit a snafu with the plumbing. The new sinks had to be plumbed, and the only way to access the existing plumbing which is under the false bathroom floor was THROUGH the bathroom floor. So, we had to cut a hole. Then ... we saw this.

MacGyver's Duct Tape Trick

Which made us have to cut a bigger hole.....

Thank you God for all the people that love me. Speaking of the people that love me, here's one of them.

Electrifying News.

The electrical rough-in inspection PASSED! Whoo Hoo!

The final inspection won't happen till all the dry-wall, and fixtures are up. But for right now, Whoo Hoo!

Moving Right Along

So, most of the electrical is done. We just have to put up the fixtures once the sheet rock(ing) is completed. The kitchen lights, however, are up giving us more than the recommended candles of light.

That's ALOT of wire for an itty bitty space!

Menu

It's amazing how many items can actually be on a menu and narrowing it down to something manageable is HARD!

We've been experimenting with different sandwiches, sides, desserts, coffees etc for the last 2 months and I think I'm finally narrowing down what we'll serve.

Check out the sample menu: http://www.clevelandstreetcafe.blogspot.com/p/menu.html

GO!

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

All systems go, and all hands on deck!

Work has started at the bakery, and so far this is what's happened...

1. The AC unit has been moved to the outside shed, and retrofitted. We are still waiting on the inside duct to come in so they can finish.

The AC unit is gone!

2. The kitchen (near the bathroom area) has been framed in.
3. All the remaining plaster has been taken down. Phew!

4. A few floor boards were repaired due to rot.

Cutting out the rotten wood and replacing.

5. The two brick walls have been sprayed with bleach, cleaned and painted with a water repelling solution.
6. Framing has started finished on the two brick walls.
7. The electrician came by to check things out. He should start Thursday.

Everyone pitched in, and helped move things along quickly. Heartfelt thanks goes out to Dr. Khan, Qumar Aunty, Arif, Sadia, Saad, Nasar, Omar Jr. and last but in no way least, Nadia. We love you all very much.

I have no words.

Set

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

This whole "thing" started over a month ago, but lets just start from where it counts.

We (my husband and I) closed on the building on May, 20th. 2011. so this is where I'll start.

05/20/2011
2:00pm - Closing

Future Bakery

This sweet little shop was being used as an antique store, and was basically just a shell with a bathroom in one corner, and an AC unit in the other. It didn't have any  running hot water  either! We needed the room the AC unit was taking up in the soon to be kitchen and we also needed hot water.

L to R: Top:  front door, ceiling, future kitchen area.
L to R: Middle: future counter, front view, tiny bathroom
L to R: Bottom: back view, the one man crew AKA "The Hubs", AC unit.

After much debate, we decided to move both issues outside; ergo, the shed.

05/20/2011
4:00pm - Shed Construction begins.

05/22/2011
8:30pm - All Done!

AC and Water Heater Shed

My husband, God Bless Him, is awesome. He almost single-handedly constructed this whole shed himself. I helped. A little.

Now all we have to do is wait for the AC man to move the unit outside!

Ready

This is my first blog, and my first (not really. I messed up and had to redo the whole thing!) blog post. Yay me. I initially thought I'd start a blog just to keep a record of my newest project but now I realize I could use it for so much more.

So what's the new project you ask?
Why, it's a BAKERY!

I've always wanted to own one, and after all these years I've found the perfect little place. A tiny little building in the quaint town of Elloree, SC. It needs some TLC to be  outfitted for a bakery but other than that it's PERFECT!
